How it all started…
After our four children flew the nest and Paul retired, we both started to wonder what the rest of our lives had in store for us. We felt kind of lost, a bit redundant, and unsettled.
I (Jo) had never had a gap year before or particularly travelled and whilst Paul had, he was eager to explore life outside Derby.
We were at a point where we were both keen to do something different and, most importantly, whilst we were both fit and able.
We briefly toyed with the idea of moving up North to be by the sea, but figured we would miss our family and friends too much. We also didn’t want to totally give up the life we have now.
After seeing something on TV to do with canal boats we both thought this is it! Let’s buy a boat and travel around the UK. And so our journey towards a new life begins.
