Getting a move on!

Well, since the Anderton Boat lift, we have had a good couple of days cruising and we are getting closer to home!

The race is on as we need to be back in Derby by next Thursday as Paul is going on a lads weekend away. We are hopeful we will do it, as long as the rain stays away

My dad joined us from the USA on Wednesday and stayed overnight on Daisy. On the Thursday we cruised for around 4 hours and dad got involved with the locks which was good fun.

Our central heating has been fixed en route by a lovely chap called Dave and Paul’s repairs to the shower seem to have worked and so after two weeks, we can finally use our own shower!

The Trent & Mersey Canal has been really beautiful so far and the locks are proving to be much easier. They are all single locks with two doors at the bottom and one at the top.

We are passing lots of farms and countryside and even the cows stop to peer at us (can you see her 😀).

We are currently moored up near Harecastle tunnel, which we will attempt to do tomorrow. The tunnel is 1.6 miles long and you have to have a safety briefing from the CRT before you go through. Needless to say, Mr Robinson will be steering and we will also be joined by Sam and Beam.

The water in this part of the canal is a really wierd colour which is caused by the iron oxide in the water. This is the view of it from our stern and window tonight.

Thanks for all your messages and we will let you know how the tunnel goes!

Love Jo & Paul xx

I remember teaching all about the Trent and Mersey canal. Lovely to see photos of it along the route.
Your Dad looks like a typical yank😂😂
