Firstly, it was a hand that the police were searching for! Apparently an angler reported catching some material on his line, out of which a human hand fell into the water! 😳
We set off from the marina this morning, having had the heating repaired (for winter) and having topped up with water and emptied the loo.
It really is fantastic to be back on the water again and the weather is beautiful! We were mindful to keep hydrated and topped up with sun cream.
We travelled from Eturia to Barlaston, through the centre of Stoke, past the old and new Wedgwood pottery sites, and along the A50. There were lots of really pretty gardens, one even had a fully stocked bar, complete with scampi fries hanging up. We were very tempted to pull over! I also saw the most amazing garden boat ever!

I had a go at driving Daisy into the downward locks today to get my confidence up. It also gave Paul the opportunity to walk around and get in some lock practice. I think I only bashed the sides once, so not bad. We did 6 locks in total between us.

We encountered one boater going way too fast around a bend.Luckily Paul was able to stop Daisy and reverse up – the other chap got a bit flustered, didn’t stop and crashed into the side. I’m glad Paul was driving 😂
We also saw a lovely cow cooling in the shade. I had to take her photo!

We arrived in Barlaston just after lunchtime where we visited Neil Morrisey’s pub called the Plume of Feathers. Unfortunately we didn’t see him around, but we did enjoy a nice pint in the sun and a game of cards.

Back at the boat, Paul had a haircut and a shave on the stern of the boat, much to the amusement of passers-by. I also did some washing in the shower which is now drying nicely in the sun!

The boat is very, very hot inside but we do get a breeze from the open doors and windows and the temperature drops significantly at night time so we are ok. We also have a small air con unit which we currently have on full blast.
Come on England!
Much love, Jo & Paul xx
