Well I had an absolute blast at the vegan camp out festival with Katie and Ryan. The food was amazing, there was great music, thought provoking talks and a really kind bunch of 12,000 or so people. Oh and let’s not forget all the crystals and hippie stuff that was on sale.

Whilst I was away, Paul kept busy by carrying out some electrical work on Daisy and he also smartened up her doors at the side and stern by varnishing them and adding some Gil Elvgrin prints. Forget castles and roses, we prefer our 50s style ladies.
He’s done a really amazing job. He also had a visit from friends Mark & Sal and took Zak to the pub for some bonding time together.

On my return, I did some laundry by hand and we left Braunston.

On Monday we ventured into the famous Braunston tunnel, which can apparently accommodate two narrowboats side by side. This was mostly true, except for at the kink which comes out of nowhere. We discovered this when we crashed into a fellow boater.
I managed to capture the dramatic footage which you can view below. Fortunately no one was hurt, just rather shook up. The captain of the other boat had her music on which you can hear and she did not slow down, which was what she should have done
Luckily we got away with a smashed jar of pickled cabbage and a slight paint scrape on the top of the side doors which has been fixed. We suspect the other boat came off worse.

Despite this, we have had some beautiful days cruising and today we did seven double locks down Buckby Flight. We paired up with another couple called Gary and Julie on their boat Stargazer Leicester who were lovely people.

Tomorrow we should reach Gayton Junction where we will branch off towards Northampton.
Love to all,
Jo & Paul xx
