Actually we are in Littleborough to be precise, having successfully made it over the summit.
We did get grounded at one point and Paul had to use the barge pole and three of us pulled Daisy on a rope. This was as a result of all the water being drained from the pound into the lock that was being filled.
We also incurred the wrath of a certain boat club who had booked to go over the summit at 11am. They were not happy to find us in the lock and ready to go at 8am, but we had been told by one of the lockies to be ready at 8 as he had promised to get us over the summit in additon to the 11 o’clock booking.
At the end of the day though we all got through safely and at least now we are heading south back to our friends and family. We wouldn’t be surprised though if they end up shutting the Rochdale summit down due to lack of water supply.
We plan to stay here at Littleborough until Thursday. Our Jess is coming to stay tomorrow for a couple of nights which we are eally looking forward to and we will also be able to do a couple of trips to the shops and laundrette.
Below are some pics of our travels over and down the summit.
Lots of love, Paul & Jo x
