Stripped and Primed (Paul)

Yesterday Jo and I got up early, walked Zak and were out of the house as we had an appointment with Pete and Stuart at the boatyard. We were going to discuss colours!!!

We arrived at Thorne boatyard and went straight into the paint shed to see, what we were assured, was our boat. Words do not do it justice so take a minute to view the pictures and video below.

A stripped back, bare metal boat with grey primer all over was what greeted us. It was unrecognisable and only a glimpse through the port hole windows reassured us that it was still Daisy Duke. All the windows have been removed and placed inside, the engine compartment is covered and an additional handrail has been welded along both sides on the roof. All good progress and we were there to take it to the next stage with our colour choice.

Jo and I have spent hours looking at different colour schemes and have gone back and forth with ideas but we are settled with our choice. Coach Lines were also discussed and we were both impressed with the attention to detail that is being given. I’ll keep the colours a secret and wait until it’s done for the big reveal. We have a date of early February for the painting to be complete when it will be then pulled out the tent and placed outside for the blacking on the hull and other work.

Seeing Daisy again has given us a huge lift and we both feel we’re on course to achieving our dream of an adventure.
