The sun is shining at Sowerby Bridge

We arrived in Sowerby Bridge on Tuesday after two full days on the Calder & Hebble navigation. It was a good journey which included around 24 locks, one of which was a guillotine lock!

At Sowerby Bridge we were forced to stop until tomorrow as a lock keeper has to guide us through lock 3/4 on the Rochdale canal as it is the UKs deepest lock. Apparently we get a certificate so we are very excited for that.

Sowerby is beautiful. Its near the Pennines for those of you who struggle with geography ๐Ÿ˜‰.

We have passed the time by walking along the canal and river and have also done some more work on Daisy and a big food shop.

Paul put a shelf up in his engine cupboard and he also took off and skimmed the bathroom door so that it now shuts! It transpires that being able to fully shut the bathroom door is essential in confined living quarters!

I am very proud of my own handiwork. I sanded down and repainted the bow doors. I even took off the grills and handles beforehand, rather than trying to work round them (Paul is training me how to do things properly).

We are in good spirits and hope to get to Hebden Bridge tomorrow. There is quite a queue for the lock but we were here first and our alarm will be set for tomorrow!

Paul has also installed a go-pro and we are hoping to get some good results from it.

if you missed Paul’s blog on how to fill an empty lock, please hit the “previous” button below. He was most upset that no one commented on it ๐Ÿ˜€

Love to all x
